During a three-month residency at the South West Healthcare Hospital in Warrnambool, I became fascinated by the role that flowers play in the hospital environment.
They sit strategically placed in reception areas, in Palliative Care, in the Morgue viewing room and in the store room in case of excess demand. Flowers are ritualistically
offered as a celebration when babies are born, and as a gesture condolence when someone is sick or dies. Intricately designed bouquets are present at the beginning
and the end of human life.
